A witty, high-energy vaudeville act with a seven-foot-tall doll as its stage. Will an obsessive need for safety and a fear of “the other” break us? Evolve Puppets’ Secrets History Remembers is a visual feast that examines our culture of fear with humor, insight and inventive puppetry. The score is an encyclopedia of commercial music styles ranging from Barbershop Quartet-to-1920’s crooner-to-Western soundtrack-to-Bernard Herrmann-to- tv jingles-to-funk-disco and more. In addition to the jingles, the score’s core and heart is a ballad “Venus’ Song (To Be Me)” (sung by Carin Gilfry) that is slowly revealed throughout and finishes the show. Secrets History Remembers was part of La MaMa’s 2024 Puppet Festival.

You can hear excerpts of the score here.
